Creation
of Basement Levels Under Existing Buildings |
| |
| |
A
problem common to occupants of historic buildings in congested city centers,
particularly in Europe, is that relatively few of these structures were
created with basement levels or underground parking. Clients needing to
expand their facilities face the modern realities of lack of suitable, economical,
development opportunities.
| |
| |
The
solution for many of these clients is to expand their existing structure
downward, through the creation of subterranean levels which can be used
for offices, storage, vaults or parking. |

Forasol
has the ability to overcome key engineering challenges in such projects,
such as:
| |
| |
1)
the need to transfer the charge of the building off its existing foundation
and onto temporary structures, such as micro-pilings, to permit the demolition
of the existing foundation and the resulting subterranean construction
| |
| |
2)
the need to protect the existing and new basement structures from lateral
forces (such as the
existence of nearby structures or bodies of water)
| |
| |
3)
the need to conserve, particularly historically classified buildings, in
their original state (façades, ceiling heights, etc.)
| |
| |
4)
the need to eliminate the risk of damage to adjacent structures |
| |
| |

Forasol
has both the engineering experience and, thanks to its technical staff,
the machines necessary to implement solutions such as the reference below:
